NEUROMUSCULAR DENTISTRY UPDATE – Agility Guard™ Aligns with Dr. Clayton Chan and Occlusion Connections™
by Clayton A. Chan, DDS – Director of Occlusion Connections
Some of you have been asking: “Why is TAG (Triumphant Agility Guard™) aligned with Dr. Clayton A. Chan and OC?”
Quality NM research, promoting an honest and credible message via Agility Guard has been designed to help support OC’s GNM occlusal teachings and message of the amazing things we have been discovering about the correctly obtained performance bite throgh the Optimized Bite™ dental education and training. Many NM clinicians have seen how this bite protocol, followed correctly, has been impacting the physiology, the science and health of the human body to the community and dental profession. For this I have been very grateful and honored that TAG has caught the VISION to assist me along with YOU in growing OC’s message and teachings.

TAG is a company that is honorable, respectable and of integrity. It focuses its business model to meet the doctor’s needs at a price point that makes total sense within this field of athletic performance mouth guards. It is composed of a group of experts who are very dedicated to furthering the science of NMD (Neuromuscular Dentistry) and physiologic research in dedicated support of OC and what we teach. I have been a NM voice teaching in this desert and we are now beginning to see fruit of that effort growing and becoming a greater voice of doctors who are moving forward in support of what we are doing at OC. For this I am very grateful and excited for 2011 and the coming years.
The principles that we have been teaching and promoting in regards to physiologic OPTIMIZATION of the bite and the body’s physiologic responses have also been realized in the athletic venue. The athletic sports field is a natural arena to prove and convey OC’s teachings to another level and validate why our TMD patients are enjoying successful treatment. I as well as many of you are interested in the “science and physiology” of the bite and human body functions as it relates to our teachings and clinical application. It happens to be that the TAG product and the Agility TESTS helps convey OUR MESSAGE about occlusal teachings and the physiology of our Bite Optimization concepts to the next level. With objective science, based on a unique and specific neuromuscular bite taking protocol that I have developed and refined, since 2003, while working with my paining TMD patients, it has been clinically proven and validated by many doctors and athletes and is continuing to be tested and researched at new levels. Behind these Optimizing Bite™ protocols Olympic athletes and trainers are now seeing the benefits and significant value in truly enhancing the physiology of neuromuscular performance.
It is based on these proven and clinically relevant protocols (first published in ICCMO Anthology VII – “Clinical and Scientific Validation for Optimizing the Neuromuscular Trajectory using the Chan Protocol” by Clayton A. Chan, DDS, MICCMO and Norman R. Thomas, BDS, BSc, PhD, MICCMO in 2005) that I am very pleased to have TAG come along the side of OC to help me further these universal insights and truths of this matter. TAG has picked up the Vision and has seen what our mission, objectives and desires have been. We will continue to help convey credible objective Neuromuscular Science as well as the wonders of GNeuromuscular Occlusion to our doctors and to the medical/dental community.
