The following are thoughts from Che’ Ahn (Senior Pastor of Harvest Rock Church in Pasadena, California): Book titled, “How to Pray for Healing”.
ALL PHYSICAL MALADIES CAME ABOUT ONLY AFTER THE DOOR TO SIN SWUNG OPEN.
In December 2003, Dr. Allen Roses, international vice president of Flaxo-SmithKline, one of the major manufacturers of drugs in the world, went public in a front-page interview with The Independent newspaper in London, England. He admitted, “The vast majority of drugs — more than 90 percent — only work in 30 to 50 percent of the people.”
Commented the science editor of the newspaper, “It is an open secret within the drug industry that most of its products are ineffective in most patients, but this is the first time such a senior drug company boss has gone public.”
While not all sickness is a direct result of sin, the root issue of specific sin can be the culprit. The root issue of sin not has opened the door for sickness but can also prevent people from receiving healing. It must be stressed that not all sickeness comes from a result of one’s sin. Other causes of sickness can be due to operative, such as physiologically laws, accidents or the simple fact that we live in a fallen world contaminated by sin.
“THE ROOT ISSUE OF SIN NOT ONLY OPENS THE DOOR FOR SICKNESS BUT CAN ALSO PREVENT PEOPLE FROM RECEIVING HEALING.”
Medical Proof
Sin as a cause of sickness is confirmed in the medical community. In 1988, the John Templeton Foundation sponsored a symposium of leading doctors at Duke Medical School, charied by Dr. Harold Koenig, professor of psychiatry and medicine and director of the Center for the Study of Religion/Spirituality and Health at Duke Medical Center. The focus of this symposium was psychoneuroimmunology, a term coined to show the relationship among the mind, the brain and the immune system. John Templeton Magazine summed up the findings:
“Do anger, guilt, anxiety, helplessness, or isolation have a corresponding negative effect on our ability to deal with physical, emotional or social stress? A rapidly growing body of research suggests that these connections are far more important than traditional Western medical science had previously supposed. One interesting result of this relatively new line of inquiry is the indication that persona faith and religious practice may be associated with a positive immune function and response to stress.”
This conclusion in the medical community that faith improves one’s immune system while negative emotions make a person more susceptible to illness only confirms the biblical principles.
Sins of Emotions and Attitudes – Unbelief
The power of our words and attitudes can be a freedom that God has given each one of us as they relate to our emotions and attitudes. We can also have grave consequences if words and attitudes are not properly used. Belief, then, is important in receiving healing. However, this is not to say that God only heals those who believe He can heal. While unbelief can at times keep us from being healed, God always has the power to heal people despite their unbelief.
Pride
Another sin that can open the door to sickness is pride or an orientation toward performance. When we move in pride and selfish ambitions, we invite demonic activity into our lives. If one harbors bitter envy and selfish ambition in one’s heart, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you can find disorder and every form of disruptive life styles.
Sins We Commit Against Others
We all commit sins against other people, family, friends and those with whom we interact within our communities. Sins we commit against others can become a source to which sickness can occur within our bodies. Bitterness, hatred, racism, unrighteous judgments and anger toward others can be attitudes that can rip us apart emotionally, socially and even physically.
Sins that Others Commit Against Us
Someone lies, cheats, has an affair, steals, commits a murder, plays politics at work and we go ahead to pick the offense it in turn hurts someone else. Sins that others commit against us could include molestation and abuse, whether emotional, physical or sexual. When something traumatic happens to a person, a demonic spirit can attack him or her at a point of vulnerability, thus resulting in a break down of the immune system, opening the door to all kinds of sickness. Abuse can lead to other demonic activities such as depression, eating disorders and even suicidal tendencies.
Sins of Our Fathers: Generational Sins and Curses
From a spiritual perspective it has been noted that sins of the fathers as well as the judgments brought by those sins can be passed down to the third and fourth generation (Exodus 20:5). Sickness, allergies, asthmas, heart disease, diabetes and depression, often seem to be passed down from one member of the family to the next generation. It has been observed in spiritual ministry that these types of sickness have been healed when the generational sickness has been broken.
Sins that We Commit Against Ourselves
We all were designed with a wonderful immune system. The white blood cells are designed to fight off sickness. When these cells go awry and begin to attack our own body, it can lead to a variety of illnesses. For example:
- In some forms of arthritis, the white cells attack the joints.
- Unrestricted growth of white blood cells can lead to several different forms of cancer.
- A variety of autoimmune disorders, such as fibromyalgia rheumatica and lupus, results form white blood cells attacking other systems in the body.
- Sexual sins – the number of sexually transmitted diseases has rapidly grown over the past two decades. Every nine months a new sexually transmitted disease is discovered. Twelve million people contract a sexually transmitted disease every year in America alone. That is 33, 000 a day. In 1996, 5 of the top 10 reported infectious diseases were sexually transmitted.
“SOME OF THE MOST DRAMATIC HEALINGS TAKE PLACE WHEN PEOPLE REPENT OF SELF-HATRED.”
The Spiritual and Physiologic Connection
It is clear that sin does indeed have an impact upon our physical being. Below are five examples of sin’s effects, both spiritual and physiological, on the human race:
- Sin causes stress. Stress breaks down our natural immune system.
- Sin causes us to feel guilt. Guilt breaks down our immune system.
- In the spiritual realm, sin gives Satan a legal right to attach us and our children.
- Sin can open the door for demonization and cause greater sickness.
- Sin hinders prayers, so people are not healed.
Recommendation:
- Receive inner healing and deliverance if there are root emotional and spiritual issues underlying the poor eating habits.
- Stay away from sugar and refined carbohydrates.
- Avoid fatty meats and fatty foods. I believe in a high-protein diet, but try to avoid meats that have had hormones added to them. Hormones may be the cause for some types of cancer, such as breast cancer. Instead, each lean protein like turkey, chicken and fish.
- Exercise, exercise and exercise. I believe everyone needs to do about at least 20-30 minutes of aerobic exercise three times a week minimum.
- Read about and study the subject of proper nutrition.
Seven R’s of Deliverance and Inner Healing
- Recognize the Sin
- Take Responsibility
- Sincere Repentance to God
- Renounce any spirits that have taken authority over your body
- Receive and exercise your faith in God’s faithfulness and in His Word.
- Renew your spirit with God’s Holy Spirit to fill you.
“IT IS CRUCIAL THAT AFTER YOU PRAY YOU CONTINUE TO THANK GO FOR YOUR HEALING, REGARDLESS OF THE MANIFESTATION.”
Prayer:
Place your hands over your body, targeting the specific area affected by pain or sickness. If your whole body is affected, place your hand over your head, then pray this prayer out loud by faith:
“Father, I come to You in Jesus’ name. I ask that Your kingdom will come and Your will be done. I invoke the presence of the Holy Spirit over my life. Father, I want to repent and renounce all sin in my life. [take time here to be specific and confess your sins to the Lord]. I also forgive all those who have hurt me [again be specific and forgive people by name]. I repent of any judgments I have made of them. In Jesus’s name I commend every evil spirit that has been oppressing me to leave. I thank You that the Word of God is true. Your Word says that Jesus went about doing good, healing all who were oppressed of the devil. And it says that You are the same yesterday, today and forever.
“Dear God, give me the wisdom to discern when Satan tells a lie about my physical condition or the sickness of someone else. Give me the ability to love in all situations and to recognize and cut off the root cause of illness — which is sin. Forgive me and make me whole this day. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
