ABOUT DR. CHAN
After Dr. Chan completed his 2 years of Kairos World Wide Ministry School training in Las Vegas, Nevada, he is now ready to serve the dental profession.
Dr. Chan is widely viewed as the pre-eminent practitioner and clinician in neuromuscular dentistry. He has recently started his own teaching/training organization - http://cdentistry.blogspot.com/ - and is rapidly gaining a significant following.
Dr. Chan is a general dentist, clinician, teacher, educator and leader. He is considered by many to be an authority on Neuromuscular Occlusion and its application to Clinical Dentistry. He honors his teacher's and mentors Dr. Philip Taylor, a follower of Dr. Charles Stuart, a pioneering gnathologist and student of Dr. Gus Swab, Dr. Robert Jankelson pioneer and leader in neuromuscular dentistry concepts and inventor of NM instrumentation (his father Bernard Jankelson the father of neuromuscular dentistry, prosthodontist and inventor) and and Dr. James Garry a pioneering clinician in the arena of upper airway obstruction, former pedodontist and TMD expert in the area of Neuromuscular Dentistry.
Dr. Chan's training and experience as a dental laboratory technician along with training in the areas of gnathologics, TMD, orthodontics and neuromuscular occlusion has helped him convey a unique three fold clinical message to thousands of dentists, specialists and dental leaders nationally and internationally.
He lectures on Neuromuscular Occlusion and its clinical relevance to both every day dentistry and comprehensive esthetic/reconstruction, TMD, and orthodontics, inspiring and motivating dentists to take their practice to the next level. He is able to instill in them the confidence, value, knowledge and skills necessary to go beyond the traditional teachings and techniques of the dental profession.
Dr. Chan is noted for his foundational concepts in dental occlusion, bite management and bite transfer techniques applying both the gnathological principles with the fundamentals of neuromuscular science in all three disciplines of TMD, orthodontics and restorative dentistry. His programs are packed with common sense information and practical clinical application for recent dental graduates as well as experienced dentists. He is the author of many articles on neuromuscular dentistry and dental occlusion.
As former Director of Neuromuscular Dentistry at the Las Vegas Institute (1999-2006) he established the neuromuscular occlusion programs with his mentors Dr. Robert Jankelson and James Garry. In addition to those basic NM occlusion programs he was instrumental in developing the TMD, Scan Interpretation and a continuum of Orthodontic courses which were well received by hundreds of clinicians, propelling the neuromuscular concepts to another level of awareness in North America and abroad.
Dr. Chan is Founder of Occlusion Connections, Executive Director of the Clinical NM Research Group, holds Mastership status with the International College of Craniomandibular Orthopedics, Founding Member of the Appliance Therapy Group and member of other dental organizations.
